Cashel is the ancient capital of Munster and political domain of the Eóganacht dynasty from the 5th century. The newly restored Cormac's Chapel is a wonderful example of 12th century European-inspired architecture, while the cathedral was built in the 13th century. And Cashel has many other monuments to see other than the famous Rock: the ruins of Hore Abbey, Kearney's Castle, St Dominic's Abbey and the Bishop's Palace. We see all of these in a leisurely walk around the town.
