If things get controversial, pause a minute before posting and reconsider any hasty responses.
Use historical facts when debating. This does not mean that speculation is forbidden, but it should be informed.
Do not use insults, whether against other posters or even historical figures. Criticism of these figures is fine, but it should consist of more than your feelings towards the person involved.
Please note also (in relation to living people) that libel laws are extremely stringent in Ireland, so we may have to moderate with that in mind in order to protect the site.
